ECM welcomes 70 delegates to official Championships Observer Programme
ECM kicked off the official Observer Programme for the European Championships Munich 2022 on Day 8 of the Championships, with presentations from co-founders and managing directors Paul Bristow and Marc Joerg alongside Olympiapark CEO Marion Schöne and Munich city councillor Mrs Ulrike Grimm.
Seventy delegates from cities, regions, countries, and national agencies across Europe interested in the organisation of Munich 2022 and the potential hosting of future editions of the multi-sport European Championships are attending the two-day Observer Programme organised by ECM.
ECM’s presentation on the European Championships vision was followed by Munich 2022 presenting on the Host City perspective and Local Organising Committee operations across sustainability, communications, event services and host broadcast.
Europe Triathlon vice-president Chris Kitchen and European Gymnastics general director Lisa Worthmann presented on the participating Federations’ perspective, with the delegates enjoying a tour of the Olympiahalle where the gymnastics is taking place.
Delegates also visited The Roofs Festival in the Olympiapark before sitting down to enjoy the athletics evening session at the Olympiastadion.
IFSC Vice President Wolfgang Wabel and Multi-Games Officer Hazel Han and CEV Managing Director Thorsten Endres and Head of Beach Volleyball George Gagalis presented on the benefits of being part of the multi-sport European Championships on the second and final day of the Programme.
This followed endorsements of the success of the event from Europe Triathlon Vice President Chris Kitchen and European Gymnastics general director Lisa Worthmann on the opening day of the programme.
Munich 2022 Creative Director Florian Weber and joint Head of LOC Klaus Cyron presented on the creative and commercial aspects of Munich 2022.
