The Munich 2022 sports program delivered a greater spread of European medal-winning nations (37) than in 2018.
50th
ANNIVERSARY
The multi-sport European Championships Munich 2022 brought elite European and Olympic sport back to the Olympic Park on its 50th anniversary.
The event was an appropriate 50th anniversary celebration of the 1972 Olympic Games and one its most iconic landmarks.
The multi-sport European Championships was the biggest event in Germany in 2022: a must-attend event for Munich, Bavarian, German, and European residents.
A SYMBOL OF SUSTAINABILITY
The Munich Olympic Park is an important symbol of sustainability – using existing stadiums and venues that require minimal additional infrastructure was paramount to minimizing the environmental impact of the European Championships Munich 2022.
CULTURAL FESTIVAL
FOR EUROPE
Munich 2022 featured a Cultural Festival for Europe in the world-famous Olympic Park location – a cultural melting pot in middle of the park’s Coubertinplatz.
Different events and activities took place at the Olympic Park during the event to create an extraordinary festival feeling that allowed athletes from different sports to mingle and visitors to embrace multiple events.
SPORT FOR ALL
The hosting of Mass Participation Events (MPEs) on the side lines of Munich 2022 gave the opportunity for the general public to really feel part of the multi-sport European Championships.
