Kenny is the most successful female track cyclist in Olympic history and is hoping to clinch her second gold of the Glasgow 2018 European Championships to make up for her husband Jason Kenny's disappointment at missing out on a medal in the men's team sprint on Friday.

The six-time Olympic champion finished sixth in that event while Laura won gold in the team pursuit to take her European gold haul to 11.

Kenny will face a strong field in the elimination race, including the 2017 bronze medallist, Evgenia Augustinas (RUS), and Denmark's Trine Schmidt, although 35-year-old Dutch ace Kirsten Wild (NED) will not defend her title after placing fourth in the 100-lap points race yesterday.

In the men’s individual pursuit, 2018 world champion Filippo Ganna (ITA) will defend his European title from a strong field which includes the 2017 European and 2018 World Championships silver medallist Ivo Oliveira (POR).

Ivo will be wary of suffering the same fate as his twin brother, Rui, who endured friction burns to his right leg when crashing during the elimnation race in the omnium on Saturday.

In the final track cycling event today, Daria Shmeleva (RUS) will hope to go two better than her 2017 European Championships bronze medal in the women's sprint after dominating her opponents in the qualifying rounds.
