Kolodiy, who won bronze in the 3m synchronised springboard event at the 2017 World Championships, has teamed up with Sofiia Lyskun (UKR) and shown strong form in the World Cup this year in a sport where his mathematical brain helps to calculate complex movements in split seconds.

The Ukrainian pair are likely to face a serious challenge from Russians Evgenii  Kuznetsov, Olympic silver medallist in the 3m synchronised springboard at the London 2012 Olympic Games, and partner Iuliia Timoshinina.

Italy’s Noemi Batki and Giovanni Tocci, a world bronze medallist in the 1m springboard, and Britain’s Robyn Birch and James Heatly as well as Lou Massenberg and Maria Kurjo of Germany could also be on the hunt for the medals.

The event involves three dives from each male and dives from each woman. Three dives are executed from the 3m springboard and the other three dives are from the 10m platform. Each diver must perform at least one dive from the springboard and one from the platform.
