Future stars lap up the limelight at Tollcross

Stars of the future take centre stage at Tollcross on Sunday. Barring a major shock, 18-year-old Kristof Milak (HUN) will compete in the final of the 200m butterfly. Gregorio Paltrinieri (ITA) is the Olympic, World and European Champion in the 1500m freestyle but his title is under threat with Mykhaylo Romanchuk (UKR), who took silver behind him at last year’s World Championships, ready to add to his 400m freestyle gold.
Max Litchfield (GBR), who got double fourth at the World Championships, makes his competitive return in the 200m individual medley, Alys Thomas (GBR) appears in the 200m butterfly heats, while the Great Britain’s men's 4x200m freestyle relay look to add European gold to their world title. Kliment Kolesnikov (RUS), another 18-year-old of great promise, goes in the 100m backstroke with his fellow Russian Evgeny Rylov, and World Champion and Rio bronze medallist Anton Chupkov (RUS) is in the 200m breaststroke.
Ukraine seek golden groove with Russia out of synch

This Championships has been like many that have gone before, with Russia sweeping the board. Their absence from the free combination final team routine presents closest rivals Ukraine with an opportunity to grab gold. This would also be a nice addition to Yelyzaveta Yakhno (UKR) and Anastasiya Savchuk’s (UKR) silver medal in the technical duet on Friday.
Strong performances are also expected from Spain and Italy, who have been battling for bronze in the free team. The free solo preliminary on Sunday morning will provide spectators with a second chance to see the first gold medallist of Glasgow 2018 from the technical duet, Svetlana Kolesnichenko (RUS).
Dutch women hit the road

The Netherlands look set to maintain their perfect record at the European Road Race Championships since elite women were added to the programme in 2016, having brought a powerful squad to Glasgow. Marianne Vos is the defending champion while 2016 winner and Olympic road race gold medallist Anna Van Der Breggen will also be a serious contender. Also watch out for Britain's Dani Rowe, who has made a successful transition from the track.
German eight aiming for six straight

The lightweight men’s double sculls looks set to be the race of the day. Reigning champions France were edged out of the finals in Saturday’s semi finals and there is little between the six finalists, although Norwegian bronze medallists Are Strandli and Kristoffer Brunhave been the quickest at this regatta.

Netherlands' Wild aims to tame women’s elimination field

Defending champion Kirsten Wild (NED) will aim to bag a remarkable 14th European Championships medal and sixth gold when she takes to the track in the women’s elimination event at Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, Emirates Arena. Wild is fresh from winning the scratch race gold medal on Friday evening but will face stiff competition from the silver and bronze medallists from 2017, Evgenia Augustinas (RUS) and Maria Giulia Confalonieri (ITA).
In the men’s individual pursuit, 2018 World Champion Filippo Ganna (ITA) will defend his European title from a strong field which includes Beijing 2008 Olympic bronze medallist Steven Burke (GBR), who is a two-time Olympic Champion in the team event.
Double Dutch beam dream as Wevers seeks to add Euro gold to Olympic title

Olympic beam champion Sanne Wevers (NED) will be attempting to add the European title on this apparatus. She will be up against Belgium's most successful gymnast, Nina Derwael (BEL), who topped qualification. Derwael is also favourite to take gold in the uneven bars. Angelina Melnikova (RUS) is a firm favourite to defend her European crown on floor after qualifying in first place for that final.
