Filip Ingebrigtsen recovers from fall to ensure men's 1500m final will be a family affair

Defending Champion Filip Ingebrigtsen joins brothers Jakob, who is just 17, and Henrik, the Helsinki 2012 European winner, in the final.

Defending Champion Filip Ingebrigtsen (NOR) climbed back to his feet with 700 metres to go to qualify for the final of the men’s 1500m along with brothers Jakob, who is just 17, and Henrik, who won the Helsinki 2012 title.

It is the first time all three have run together at a major Championships. The final takes place on Friday at the Olympic Stadium.

The first women's event of day three of Athletics action in Berlin was the opening round of the 100m hurdles and, with the leading stars getting a bye through to Thursday’s semi finals, European U20 Champion Solene Ndama (FRA) took centre stage.

The 19-year-old broke 13 seconds for the first time – and then some – clocking 12.88, more than two tenths of a second ahead of the next-fastest qualifier.

It was also a good morning for Ndama's team-mate Rouguy Diallo, who set a personal best in triple jump qualifying to share top spot with Germany's Kristin Gierisch. Three-time European Champion Olha Saladukha (UKR) failed to make the final.

In the opening round of the men's 200m, Italy's Eseosa Desalu qualified fastest - in 20.39 – for Wednesday evening’s semi finals.

Great Britain's Laviai Nielsen and Belgium's Cynthia Bolingo Mbongo broke their personal bests in winning their respective heats of the women’s 400m.
