Svein Arne Hansen: Europe at its best will be on show in Glasgow and Berlin

Double Olympic gold medallist Max Whitlock was the star of the show when the Glasgow 2018 team hosted a media and networking reception at Altitude London in the Millbank Tower on Tuesday 31 January.
Gymnast Whitlock interviewed for the crowd and chatted with journalists keen to learn more about the inaugural multisport European Championships, which will build on the success of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and 2014 Ryder Cup.
Max sounds positive about the European Championships: “Competing for your country in front of a home crowd is always incredible. It brings out the best in you and pushes you to the next level. The Glasgow fans are really passionate – they love their sport and that is what will help make the 2018 European Championships so special.”
125 years of World Rowing highlights rich history of European Rowing Championships

A milestone anniversary for the World Rowing Federation (FISA) this year highlights the rich history and heritage of their flagship European event – the European Rowing Championships.
FISA, the acronym for Federation Internationale des Societies d’Aviron, was the first international sports federation, and one year after its creation in 1892 organised the first edition of the European Rowing Championships.

The world premiere of “Urban Records”, the official film of the Berlin 2018 European Athletics Championships, has been set for Monday 27 February at the Zoo Palast movie theatre in Berlin.

The 2017 European Athletics Indoor Championships will take place in Belgrade, Serbia, on 3-5 March. Find out more here.
Glasgow 2018 has started the process of recruiting volunteers for the multi-sport European Championships in August next year.
Volunteers need to be 16 years of age as of 1st January 2018.
People are invited to register their interest to volunteer here.

European Championships Board
19th February 2016 - European Championships 2018 Board Meeting, Glasgow
The next 2018 European Championships Board meeting will be Geneva on Tuesday 7 February.
The European Championships is collectively run by the participating European Sports Federations and all decisions are made by the European Championships Board, which is jointly chaired by European Athletics and LEN. Each Federation is independently responsible for their own sport within the concept and all decisions to participate are taken in full compliance with the decision-making processes and governance rules of each Federation.
