SCC Events have been appointed as the organisers of the five out-of-stadia events – the race walking and marathon races – at the Berlin 2018 European Athletics Championships.
They will be responsible for the surveying and securing of the race courses, liaising with the public authorities and services, setting up and dismantling all the equipment on the actual courses as well as taking charge of the traffic control for the five races that will be held on the roads of the Berlin during what will be Germany's largest sporting event next year.
The out-of-stadia races in Berlin, taking in some of the memorable landmarks of the German capital, are expected to produce some of the most visually stunning images of the inaugural multi-sport 2018 European Championships.
The European Championships will be staged from 2-12 August next year – Glasgow being the host city for the six other sports – with the Berlin 2018 European Athletics Championships itself taking place over six days of competition from 7-12 August.
Managing Director of Berlin 2018 Frank Kowalski commented: "We are looking forward to working with our experienced and competent partner SCC Events. For Berlin 2018, we have set out to put the athletes at the centre of our attention and offer them the best conditions for competition. With SCC Events, we are sure to have found the right partner for this.”

The relationship between SCC Events and Berlin 2018 heard the gun at the 2017 Berlin Half Marathon on Sunday 2 April, when each of the 34,004 runners wore a race number with the colourful logo of the next year’s European Athletics Championships.
Managing Director of SCC Events Jürgen Lock said: "The first few weeks of cooperation have already been characterised by a great team spirit and a high degree of quality work. We are looking forward to the joint development of the out-of-stadia competitions at the first European Athletics Championships in Berlin.
“At the last major athletics event in Berlin, the 2009 IAAF World Championships, we were able to contribute our expertise to the out-of-stadia competitions as an organisational partner. We are very confident that, together with the team of Berlin 2018, we will create unforgettable moments for the athletes as well as the spectators," added Lock.
